Our Mission Statement

Our purpose is to worship the King of Kings and the Lord of Lords in spirit and in truth. I believe that worship sets the atmosphere for miracles!

How do you worship the living God in Spirit and Truth?

I beseech you therefore brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God which is your reasonable service. And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.
Romans 12: 1-2

The Word of God talks about worshipping God in Spirit and in truth. How can we get to that place of worship?  The Lord says that there is a place that we can go with Him.  So, how do we get there?  Let me share with you, what the Lord has shared with me. It says in Romans to present your bodies as a living sacrifice that it was a type of worship to the Lord.  What does this mean exactly?  It means dying to self.  Dying to your flesh.  How do you die to your flesh?  By not giving in to the flesh. By doing, at all times, the right thing even when your flesh is desiring something else.  How do you know when you have died to your flesh? When you are forgotten, neglected or purposely set at naught and you don't sting or hurt with the over sight, but your heart is happy being counted worthy to suffer for Christ, That is dying to self………

……..When your good is evil spoken of, when your wishes are crossed, your advice disregarded, your opinion ridiculed, and you refuse to let anger arise in your heart or even defend yourself, but take it all in patient, loving, silence, that is dying to self……..

………When you lovingly and patiently bear any disorder, any irregularity, any annoyance, and when you stand face to face with waste and folly, extravagance, spiritual insensibility and endure it as Jesus did, that is dying to self…..

……..When you are content with any food, and offering, any raiment, any climate, any society, any solitude, any interruption by the Will of God, that is dying to self……

…….When you can see your brother prosper and have his needs met and can honestly rejoice with him in spirit and feel no envy, nor question God, while your own needs are far greater and you are in desperate circumstances, that is dying to self……

……..When you can receive correction and reproof from one of less stature than yourself and can humbly submit, inwardly as well as outwardly, finding no rebellion or resentment or rising up within your heart that is dying to self………

Your fleshly man is at war with your spirit man everyday.  If you want to truly worship God in Spirit and in truth, you must do what Romans 12 says to do.  To continue to walk in the Spirit you must crucify the flesh.  To be truly anointed, you must die to self.  If you want God's attention, die to your flesh and walk in the Spirit and I promise, you will hear from God and He will reveal Himself to you and you will help set the atmosphere for MIRACLES!

Contact Janet "Spirit Life Choir"

Hi! My name is Janet Swanson and I am the worship leader here at the Statesboro Church of God. I have been here since July of 2005. I have sung ever since I could remember. God has prepared me my whole life for such a time as this. I am very passionate about Praise & Worship. My heart is to get into the presence of God and to sing to Him from the depths of my soul. Worship has become a life style to me. It’s not just about my song or getting up in front of people to lead them, but it’s the way I live my life each day. David said, “Your praise Lord will continually be upon my lips.” And that is my heart. No matter what may come my way, I want to always have His praise upon my lips and in my heart. When I worship I feel the closest to God. My favorite worship is spontaneous worship. It is unrehearsed and unprepared. As the spirit leads or moves upon me, I praise Him with a new song that has not yet been written.
The Word talks about when Jesus was walking on the water and the disciples were in the boat, the word says that Jesus would have passed them by (Mark 6:45-49) if they had not cried out. I believe that the Lord is causing us to cry out to Him so that He will not pass us by. That has been my prayer, “Don’t pass us by my Lord!” So, as I have cried out whether it is in a song, in worship, or in prayer, I have felt His presence meet me right where I am.
My prayer is that as we follow the leading of the Holy Spirit in worship that people will surrender and give there hearts to the Lord and to go to that place with Him that He can reveal Himself to us and heal us of our infirmities. I pray that as you listen to us that you will be healed, set free and be made whole in the name of our sweet Lord Jesus.

About Me & My Family
I have the most awesome family in the whole world. God has kissed me by giving me a husband that truly loves me as Christ loved the church. I cherish him and love him so much. We have been married for 19 years, this August 19. My husband is the Associate Pastor here at the Statesboro Church of God. He is an awesome preacher & awesome man of God.
I have the most awesome kids.
I have 3 boys. Reed, 13 years old, Rhett, 10 years old, & Ryan 5 years old. I have the best kids in the whole world. They are so kind and love the Lord very much. I call them by there spiritual names. Reed is my little Samuel! I feel like God is calling him to speak to nations! He definitely has a prophetic call on his life. Reed has a heart as big as TEXAS!!!
Rhett, well his name means Shepherd. The Lord spoke to me a while back and showed me that the same mantle that was upon my father-in-law is upon my husband and is also upon Rhett. He has a great capacity to love and care for people. He wants to be a professional football or baseball player when he grows up. If that falls through, he wants to be an anesthesiologist. Oh well, we will see!

Ryan, well….. I call him my little Gideon. He is a mighty warrior. I mean he has to fight just to get a word in edge wise!! He is full of life and very energetic. He is very smart and detailed. He doesn’t forget a thing!! He said he wanted to be the president when he grows up. I believe that he could!!! He has a great capacity of endurance and persistence. I believe that he has a great future! His children’s pastor, “Ms. Julie” says to always listen for God’s voice because He wants to speak to us. Ryan told me, “Mama, Ms. Julie said to pray and listen for God’s voice.” With his hands folded and frustration in his eyes he said, “I’ve been prayin’, and prayin’ and waitin’ and waitin’ and listenin’ and listenin’, but God, well….He hasn’t said a word. When is He going to speak to me?” Haven’t we all felt that way before?
Here I am God, Speak!! I love that attitude.
I believe in my family. I believe in my husband and children that with an open heart and open mind and an open spirit, there is no telling what God will do with them all. But I speak life into their lives all the time. I tell them all the time that “God must really love me to give me you!”
Thank you Lord for filling my life with such joy with such a wonderful family.
